Finally. Finally. Finally.
We had news about Puma’s Blackstation sometime around late January and we waited like anything for the collections to drop. Then the days rolled by. Then the weeks. Then months. I had to contact Puma to really confirm if they were indeed dropping this year, and not Spring/Summer 2011.
Well, last Saturday, the wait was over. Puma finally released their Blackstation collection featuring Urban Mobility by Hussein Chalayan, Puma by Yasuhiro Mihara and Rudolf Dassler Shufabrik footwear lines.
The sportlifestyle brand recently revealed its Spring-Summer 2010 Blackstation collection to Manila’s fashion scene by literally breaking the shoes loose from a giant wooden container crate. Seriously, there was an actual crate at Greenbelt 5′s fashion walk. Juan Alcazaren created the masterpiece out of the actual crates from the brand’s warehouse, the very same crates used to transport the products into our shores.
The launch was marked by performances of some of the shakers of Manila’s music scene – Drip, Sleepwalk Circus and Up Dharma Down. The talented and lovable chefs Rolando and Jackie Laudico provided a superb feast. The Urban Mobility Collection- with creative direction by Hussein Chalayan, London-based global designer, artist and film maker- explores the notion of ‘Mobile Life’ in modern cities, bridging fashion and performance by designing products that offer true solutions to stylish travel through the urban environment. I think the collection’s name sums it up pretty well. If you didn’t get that then I don’t know. Black on black is Chalayan’s signature cw with a pop of color to highlight the collection.
Rudolf Dassler by PUMA is a modern collection that personifies the collision of sport and fashion with the combination of vintage silhouettes and contemporary street style. This is an upgrade from previous releases. Previous designs were “too old” for my taste. I know the Dassler line was about being all classic and vintage, but at least the S/S collection has aged well and would fit any fan of the line.
The Spring-Summer 2010 Puma Blackstation collection is available only at Puma Stores Bonifacio High Street, Glorietta 4 and Greebelt 5. The Urban Mobility line is sold only at Puma Stores Bonifacio High Street and Glorietta 4. For more information on the collection, please visit www.puma.com.
I wanna thank TL for inviting me to the launch. It’s launches like these that makes me really appreciate my sneakers. The Blackstation pieces are works of art and sneaker appreciation definitely is on another level. Kudos to Puma for bringing it here. Now, air and hotel fare can now be used to buy an extra pair from the Blackstation collection.
Catch more of the Blackstation launch on the succeeding post.
